The Music Centre has initiated roundtable discussions between its staff and the faculty of other departments and units. The purpose of these two-hour brainstorming sessions is to generate interdisciplinary research topics in the African context. The topics will be developed into grant proposals by interdisciplinary teams and presented to the Office for Research Support to solicit the necessary funding.
The initiative is part of efforts to fulfil the Centre’s mandate to generate knowledge.
The first in the series of discussions took place on Monday, 10th January, 2022, between staff of the Music Centre and the Department of Educational Studies.
The initial topic that was generated from the discussion is, “Examining the role of arts-based pedagogy in promoting holistic education in Ghana”.
The team agreed to work individually on the background of the study, and reconvene for further discussions to complete the task at hand.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 8th February, 2022.
The panel consisted of Dr. Susan Bedie (HOD) and Dr. Emmanuel Intsiful from the Department of Educational Studies, Ms. Theodora Esi Entsua-Mensah (Director, Music Centre) and Mr. Kras Arthur.
